Are facials just for relaxation?
Facials have always been known to be relaxing, but the best benefit is to increase the health of your skin. Monthly treatments and a proper home care regimen should not be considered a luxury, but an important part of your personal care routine. Our skin is on a 28 day renewing cycle. As we age that cycle starts to slow down the shedding of dead skin cells. We need to speed up our cellular turnover rate and extract debris and congestion that build up in order to maintain a healthy radiant appearance. Our skin is the largest organ and our main defense from the outside world. Let's show it some TLC. It's easy to promote a nourished, smooth, younger looking complexion with customized skincare treatments and by using the proper products at home. I'll be here to help guide you through it all.
I've never had a facial, which one should I book?
What took you so long!? I love having first time facial clients. They are always blown away by how amazing their experience is. Any client I'm meeting for the first time should typically start with a Customized Facial. This will give me chance to analyze your skin and start with a gentle treatment. If your skin reacts well we can talk about more advanced services that will help with your skin concerns. By the way, your hairline may get wet so no need to take extra time to do your hair or apply makeup before your treatment. It's always best to dress comfortably and casually.
What products do you use?
I use a variety of professional and medical grade skincare products including Glymed Plus, Hale and Hush, Circadia, and Skinscript. These are cosmeceuticals that are only sold through licensed skincare professionals, nurses, and doctors. These products are tested and backed by science to work not just on the surface, but within the skins layers and cells. They contain a higher percentage of active ingredients that will help improve and change skin conditions on a cellular level. Don't be fooled by pretty packaging in department stores or a celebrity endorsed product. When it comes to your skincare products let the ingredients speak for themselves.
Is sunscreen really that important?
Sunscreen is the most important step of your skin care routine. Did you know the sun is responsible for 85% of the aging process? Wearing your SPF daily is the easiest and most inexpensive way to prevent premature aging. Rain or shine SPF should be applied every 2 hours even if you are indoors. If you want to get the most out of your treatments with me you need to protect your skin from both the UVA and UVB rays of the sun. Take my advice now, it is far easier to prevent sun damage and wrinkles than it is to reverse them.
Can I get a facial if I'm pregnant?
A customized facial is perfect during pregnancy. Always be sure to communicate with me that you are pregnant or breastfeeding so I can use appropriate products during your treatment. I do not recommend any of my advanced treatments during pregnancy unless you provide a note from your doctor. Hormones can wreak havoc on the skin but your facial is sure to leave you glowing, stress free, and rejuvenated.
What should I do to prepare for my appointment?
Be sure to skip at home exfoliation products and treatments the week of your appointment. Wear SPF daily and avoid sun exposure both 5 days before and after your treatment. I cannot treat your skin if you are experiencing sun burn. Know the names of skincare products that you are currently using at home. Feel free to bring a list so we can decide if we need to add or replace anything. Always wear comfy clothing and avoid excessive makeup. Be prepared to talk about your skin concerns and goals you want to achieve.
Should I get my treatment before a big event?
If you have never had a facial before we won't know how your skin will respond. Although reactions are unlikely, I recommend setting up your first treatment 6 weeks before your event. This will allow time for another treatment closer to your special day when you love your results. If you don't have that much time don't worry, I can recommend a basic gentle treatment that will be perfect right before an event.
Will I break out after my facial?
The answer is typically no but can be different for everyone's skin. If you needed a lot of extractions or had excessive build up, it is possible for you to experience a breakout after your treatment. Another reason you may experience purging is if your skin is adjusting to a new active ingredients in your medical grade skin care products. The goal for our treatments and products is to expose the fresh skin cells to reveal clearer, younger looking skin. Before those new healthy cells get to the surface, some other stuff rises to the top like congestion that clogs pores, and excess oils. In the end purging is a good thing. Once we conquer the purge we are one step closer to clear skin. Make sure you persevere and continue using the products to see results.
Can I wear makeup after my appointment?
If you received a customized facial the answer is yes. You should be able to apply makeup right way with no issues. However I always recommend to wait if you can. Allow your skin to breathe and let all the wonderful products I used sink in and work their magic. If you receive an advanced treatment like dermaplaning or nano infusion, it is recommended to wait minimum 24 hours before applying makeup.
How often should I get a facial?
How often you come will depend on the present condition of your skin and the goals you want to achieve. It could be anywhere from once a month to once a week. Our skin is on a 28 day renewing cycle. As the skin cycle concludes its time to exfoliate dead skin and deep clean our pores to keep a radiant complexion.
